The fighters come across a destroyed Great Fox, to Fox's horror.
He is quickly rescued by Donkey Kong, who managed to free himself by destroying the Hand that tied him up. The group reaches a giant board game and spot Yoshi tied up by a Hand. During their journey, they battle different spirits and rescue Link, Boshi, Fox, Samus, and Ness. They witness Galeem in the distance spitting out many spirits from his core and decide to defeat him. He encounters Mario tied up by a Hand and defeats it, freeing Mario. Kirby lands on a mountain in The Light Realm, a world created by Galeem. Galeem then proceeds to vaporize all life in the universe, turning them into Spirits.
Galeem fires giant beams of light that vaporize the fighters, prompting Kirbo to retreat on his Warp Star. and travels to a cliffside where a group of fighters (led by Fox) prepare to face off against Galeem and his army of Master Hands. Kirbo receives an invitation to join Super Smash Bros.
